Shopping for the quilters in your life should be easy, right? Everyone loves fabric! But, it can be tricky to choose the right style or color for someone else. Rather than default to a generic gift card, this gift guide for quilters has some suggestions to help you shop with confidence.

Gift for Beginning Quilters
Do you know someone who wants to start quilting? I highly recommend that beginners take a class. Having an experienced quilter in the room to answer questions is the best way to learn. Contact your local quilt store for details about their instructors and class options. Highlight the details in the shop newsletter and wrap that in a shirt box.
If the recipient is more of an independent learner, there are many resources to choose from. YouTube is a great place to start! Since the pandemic started in 2020, many quilting teachers took their classes online. Search for specific topics or find a teacher in your area by using the Global Quilt Connection database.
The low-tech option is to find a book that has lots of pictures to guide a beginning quilter. I have a few suggestions for books to help beginners. (These are affiliate links to Amazon. Gift Guide for Quilters at any level
Secret Santa is quite busy this time of year. Put together a box or basket for the gift exchange in your quilting group – bonus points if you sew a fabric version!
Fill it with notions that any quilter can use. Tools are a good option and I suggest a retractable measuring tape, Tula Pink scissors, or a metallic pin holder.
Help the quilter in your life stock up on basics. Everyone can use a refill package of rotary cutter blades (45mm is the most common size) or some new straight pins. I like Clover glass head silk pins.
Everyone Loves Fabric!
If you want to buy fabric, shop in the blender section first. Fabrics like Moda Grunge or Northcott’s Stonehenge Gradations work well with a variety of other collections and they come in a wide selection of colors.
Of course, you can’t go wrong with neutrals such as this bundle from Fat Quarter Shop.
A treat for the quilter who has everything would be a retreat weekend. Search your local area for rentals or ask a local shop or quilting guild for recommendations. Perhaps you can visit a show like Road to California, AQS Quilt Week, or the International Quilt Festival in Houston.
