Welcome to the 2021 Monthly Color Challenge! February’s color is inspired by lovely Lemons and a bright yellow, which to me is the color of hope.
February Lovely Lemon Yellow Blocks
I am making three blocks each month. You can choose the larger 12″ block, or the smaller 6″ size. Sign up to get block instructions at Patterns by Jen.
I started with the 12″ block in glowing tones from Island Batik. Half square triangles mean one thing – time to break out the Easy Angle ruler!! Watch a demo here.
For my smaller blocks, I am reversing the darks and lights to make two versions of each block. It was a challenge to dive into my stash and find yellows with enough contrast. How robust is the yellow section of your fabric stash?!?
Lovely Lemons in Recipes
Here in Arizona, we are blessed with a good climate for citrus growers. I have a huge orange tree in my backyard, and many friends and neighbors supply me with lovely lemons. One of my favorite treats is Lemon Curd – so tasty on a warm English muffin for breakfast!
While you are enjoying a lemon-y treat, be sure to visit the other bloggers who are participating in the monthly color challenge. Each month, you can link a picture of your block on Jen’s site to be entered to win some amazing prizes from our sponsors.
Bloggers:
Very pretty yellows! I like your idea of making more blocks, in fact I might go back and make another January block or two. With all this lemon talk, making my mouth water.
More blocks is always a fun choice!
I try to do my blocks scraps. I will raid my yellow box.
I like to make HST , so this is the block for me/
Stay safe
HSTs are my favorite too! Enjoy.
