If you want to make new friends, take a quilt class! I had a busy weekend with TWO different quilt classes. Teaching is my passion – I want everyone to enjoy quilting as much as I do. And, I learn something from every quilter I meet, whatever their experience level.
Monochromatic Fun
Last spring, I enjoyed presenting a trunk show to the Palo Verde Patchers quilt group. They were kind enough to invite me back for a workshop based on my pattern, Yellow Suns. We had a lovely morning playing with light, medium and dark fabric to create a monochromatic quilt. Don’t you just love their color choices?!?
If you would like to learn more about choosing a monochromatic palette, book a lecture with me. I am happy to make a Zoom presentation to groups of all sizes. I also talk about my monochromatic design process in this video:
New Quilting Friends
My favorite class to teach is a beginner workshop. I chose a few traditional blocks to make a table runner. These blocks let new quilters practice quarter inch seams, rotary cutting and get exposure to half square triangles. With a small project like a table runner, we even had time for stitch-in-the-ditch quilting and binding in the 3-session format. Didn’t they do a great job?!?
I recommend the book, Start Quilting by Alex Anderson, as a reference. You can get a copy with my affiliate link from Amazon – it’s a great gift to a new quilter!
Your Turn to Share
As I do every week, I invite you to share a link to your blog and join the Put Your Foot Down Linky Party. What have you been working on this week? I always enjoy seeing your works of art. They inspire me to add new patterns to my quilting bucket list!
Hi Andy, how wonderful to be teaching two classes. It looks like your students had lots of fun. Thanks for the party. Have a great week.
