Last Saturday was National QOV Sewing Day so I participated by making the Split Back Star for their Block Drive.

Time for Trimming
The two essential tools I used while making this block are the Bloc-Loc and Add-A-Quarter rulers. I use Bloc-Loc any time I square up half-square triangles. Quilt blocks come together so much easier when they are trimmed to exact sizes! The Add-A-Quarter ruler helped trim the star points, which come together like flying geese.

Layout Options
I will be sending these four blocks to the QOV Foundation to put into a full quilt. First, I had fun auditioning different layouts. There are so many options when you have a split block! Try some stripes, squares, or triangles. The volunteers for the QOV Block Drive this year willcertainly enjoy putting them together.
