Here is my spicy finish for the 2022 Monthly Color Challenge hosted by Patterns by Jen. The hardest part of a block-of-the-month project can be putting it all together once the blocks are done. But with such pretty blocks and a fun layout, I was anxious to see the final product.

Sashing and Cornerstones
This colorful quilt was the perfect place to use a rainbow-hued fabric that had been sitting in my stash for way too long. I paired it with a solid white to really let the colors sing. Even though the cornerstones have tiny one-inch pieces, the nine patch units come together easily when you start by strip-piecing your fabrics.
It’s amazing how just 12 blocks can require so many sashing strips! But, I called on my trusty AccuQuilt for help. The 3-1/2″ die let me cut all those pieces in a flash.

A Spicy Finish
And my finished quilt top, ready for the longarm.
I think a spacious all-over design will let these fun blocks shine. But that is a decision for another day.
The Monthly Color Challenge continues and the 2023 theme is Classic Cars! I hope you enjoy another year of colorful quilting. I am focused on something a little bit different. Tell me what your plans are for the new year in the comments below.
