True Blue Weekend {Put Your Foot Down 160}

There has been an abundance of blue in my life this week! It was a True Blue weekend as I returned to the US Air Force Academy for my college reunion. Plus, I’ve been stitching away at some blue stars to get my quilt ready for the Tool Talk Blog Hop.

True Blue, then and now

Anyone who served in the military, for any length of time, knows that those friendships last forever. I had a wonderful time in Colorado Springs, touring the Academy and seeing my buddies from long ago. Everyone has aged beautifully. Each class is assigned a color, and we just happened to be True Blue 92. Of course, when I started my quilt business, I wanted to draw on those values of togetherness, loyalty and service that were the foundation of my military years.

True Blue Stars

When I got back home, I had to buckle down to finish my current project. I will share the whole quilt next week during my turn on the Tool Talk blog hop, sponsored by Island Batik and Studio 180 Design.  I enjoyed using the Tucker Trimmer 1 to make star blocks, and the Prairie Blue fabric collection is gorgeous. Very fitting with the True Blue theme of the week! I started the project with one of my favorites, the classic LeMoyne Star:

Stay tuned for the big reveal on Sept 20th!
